Music is the soul of every human being, rather every entity of creation but sufi music holds an extra special place in the long list of different types of music. Basically on the outside Sufi music is usually in the form of a love story between a male and a female. It might sound like several other ordinary love songs we hear everyday but there is a difference.

Most of the Sufi kalams were written by mystics when in state of high intoxicity. Now wait, when we say intoxicity, we do not mean alcohol or anything like that. These sufis were intoxicated with the peace and joy which overflows when one is in touch with the inner self. They were mainly not worried about the world but only about their beloved which is the super-consciousness

करले दिल दी सफाई जे यार चाहिदा
तू जहाँ तो की लेना तैनू यार चाहिदा

There are many singers who sing these sufi kalams in their magical voice and they can be listened to and enjoyed while keeping the ultimate lover of all in mind, hence leading from singing to meditation. This is culmination of the highest form and there are only a few people who can sing to such a level.

रातीं जागण कारन इबादत रातीं जागण कुत्ते तीथों उत्ते
उठे बुल्लिआ तुवि यार मन ले, नहीं ते बाजी ले गए ने कुत्ते
